Hip Hop Rosé

So you know how you know everything about the kind of wine you drink, then say piss off to the other wines you don't like/don't understand? We do too! So we decided to do something about it. By show of hands who drinks rosé? Exactly, no one. At least not on the regular. So we set out on a Saturday afternoon to get to know this wine more (someone has to do it).

Rosé all day at Lucas Liquor on the Missouri side.  Who knew there was so many choices. Even of the the reps was wearing rosé pants!

We may have started off with a tequila tasting but then got down to business.

IMG_4288.JPG

After we tasted all wines on 4 or 5 tables we needed food so we ran next door to Harry's Tavern where they have a keg of rosé  (who knew). The salsa there was homemade and very good. We would definitely recommend.

After lunch more tables opened for tastings so it was back to business. All in all we tasted probably 35 wines. What did we learn? They come in all shapes and sizes. They're not all sweet/dry/light/simple/fruity. Our mission was to find our wine for the summer and boy did we find a winner *ahem* in a can!

We bought a case of Alloy Wine Works Everyday Rosé. We were shocked how good this wine was and it's already pool friendly! I know you're wondering what we have up our sleeves for this summer so here's a sneak peak at our bucket list:

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

- Steph

Day in the Life

Happy Friday Adventurers!  We decided to give you a peek into our every day life.  Not every day looks like the KY Derby Party and Pig Day at the K!  We each picked a day and took some pics throughout to show you what we do on a normal non-pig grill day.

I hope you enjoy!

Just another manic Monday with Stephanie:

My weekday breakfasts are always the same. Why? Because it's simple and delicious. After my over easy eggs topped with sriracha (the greatest condiment ever made) and a side of OJ I started my day. On Monday's I usually work from home so you can see my setup in the living room. I may or may not catch up on shows if my workday permits. :)

Breakfast of champions and my work station.

I save yard work (damn gardener didn't show up - probably because I don't pay one) and chores (damn house keeper didn't show - ditto from above) around the house for days I work from home since I've saved the commute time. Today I HAD to mow! It's never good when your grass is above the tire on your mower. After I tamed the non-concrete-jungle I had to do one more round of clean-up on my kitchen floor that I just grouted this weekend.

Mowing, cleaning, downtown kc & a victory beer.

With house stuff done it was time for fun! I play on a coed softball team on Monday nights throughout the summer and our game wasn't until 8:30 so you can see the ugly sunset view of downtown KC. It makes for a beautiful backdrop while playing with a great group of people that have had the pleasure of knowing me for years. We won so it was a great way to wrap up my day

It's Goin' Up On a Tuesday with Andrea:

Bright and early the day gets started! First I do my rain dance but something must be off so I had to water the plants with actual water, then I get a little workout in (pool season is upon us) and finally I sip on my matcha tea from my adorable cat mug.

Once I make myself presentable to the world I head to work where I eat my breakfast at my desk. Why are there so many files and business-y things to take care of already???

I learned about matcha from Keeping up with the Kardashians

Ground turkey, eggs over easy-ish and roasted corn with peppers. Don't worry I prepped this gourmet meal on Sunday so I could grab and go all week long!

After breakfast and coffee people are comfortable speaking to me. Turns out dealing with people is hard so I took a little time to drive the community and make sure things are in tip top shape. Wowzers I found a rouge trailer parked on our property. Busted..whoever left the trailer here. The investigation continues.

I picked up a passenger while I was taking a selfie on the golf cart. I have no idea whose dog this is, seems normal.

Back to the office. Oh wait, I need to go get an allergy shot. Off to Allergy and Asthma Care!

Anytime I head back to the office from the allergist I stop at Starbucks, obviously.

My arm is on fire and feels like there are a million needles stabbing me. Totally worth it!

Work, work, work, work, work.

I headed to pick Leslie up at the end of my day, she helped me pick out new lounge chair cushions for the backyard. They weren't awkward to carry or anything.

At Home has a huge inventory of practically everything.

I spent the evening at home with my hubbs cooking dinner, reading a book, folding the laundry, and snuggling with my fur kids.

In the words of Ice Cube, "Today was a good day".

 Hump Day with Kristi!

Wednesday started out with a very early alarm clock. It was my first early morning workout at my new gym. Lucky for the pets they got to stay in bed! My first breakfast of the day was a Lara Bar that was consumed in the car on the way to MC CrossFit. The workout was a tough one for me - rowing, wall balls, thrusters (still working on that form!), and bar facing burpees - whew! Thankfully, I didn't die.

Why is it that you always need gas at the most inconvenient times? I stopped to get some on the drive home and wad thrilled whenan ESPN bit popped up the gas pump screen. Score! After attempting to get ready at home I made breakfast number two. A smoothie from Daily Harvest. It was my first time making one and it was super easy! Once at work, I finished off breakfast number three that was comprised of hard boiled eggs and fruit.

Lunch time was enjoyed at home with an attempt to sit on the patio while the dog enjoyed the sun. Unfortunately, it was super windy!  Clouds were rolling in by time I was headed back to work.

Once that work thing was over I was headed home for the evening. We usually play indoor volleyball on Wednesdays but had a bye week. That meant extra time for lawn mowing and laundry. The evening was capped off with some reheated pad thai that burned my mouth in that oh so good Thai hot kind of way!

That leaves Thursday for me-Leslie.  I don't get up in the 4 o'clock hour, but I do get up at 5am to hit up the gym.  Pump some iron and a quick mile finisher is a great way to start the day...clearly taking a photo from the ground on your phone with the timer is a terrible angle!!

I had to fast for 12 hours for a wellness assessment (don't worry, I totally passed and my cholesterol is low...woohoo!) I saved all of the drinks for post assessment!  Supplements=BCAAs and protein.  Then water to rehydrate!

IMG_0612.JPG

Work is boring, so I'll jump right to post work.  A little pup time...he's pretty much my favorite.

I have coached Girls on the Run for about 3 years now.  It is so much fun to get to know the girls and encourage them to be strong, kind, and confident young ladies!  It was our end of season party before the 5K with the rest of the city this weekend.

Next up-volleyball!!  This little guy was trying to warn us of the storms ahead, but we didn't listen.  We headed inside for some beers while we waited out round one of the storms.  You don't see a guy in a taco, pizza, and cat shirt every day...just on Thursday!!!  Then we hit the courts just in time to win 3 games and get poured on!  Lightning isn't dangerous is it??

Finally made it home for some salmon tostadas and blogging of course!!  I don't want to disappoint you readers!  Don't worry you can read this when you get up at 5am tomorrow...or is that just me??

No time for sleep, there are adventures to be found...Unfiltered Adventures!

We hope you enjoyed a peek into our day to day lives.

KY Derby Meets Pig Day at The K

We were Always Dreaming at the Kentucky Derby last weekend. We weren't exactly at the Derby but we were at Saddle & Sirloin which is the next best thing. Billy got into the festivities as you can see. He was channeling his inner jockey when he drove us to the club.

IMG_0889.JPG

Upon arriving at Saddle & Sirloin we were greeted by the hosts Kristin and Kent Beyer...and Mint Juleps.

The Mint Juleps were aggressive, as they should be. We enjoyed one in the spirit of the Derby. Next our favorite bartender Patty served us up another cocktail that was new to us. Cue the Seelbach; a glamorous blend of bourbon, Cointreau and bitters all topped with champagne. So basically bourbon with a champagne floater. Right up our alley. It was enjoyed by all.

The best part of the Derby party was the hats. Stephanie had a slight misfortune with her hat, luckily Maureen shoved a toothpick in it and she back in business.

Stephanie and Kristi made a new friend, turns out they were rubbing elbows with the brother of the owner of the company where they work. Well Steph doesn't work there anymore but she did for about 13 1/2 years.  Turns out KC is just a small town!

IMG_0881.JPG

Kristi and Leslie had the hot hands, they picked the 2nd and 3rd place horses. Cash money!  They weren't horsing around...wink. Always Dreaming quickly overpowered the field and went on to win the race by 2 1/2 lengths.  Both Lookin At Lee and Battle of Midway had great races!

All of this excitement called for a delicious dinner, wine and our jockey chauffeur.

What better way to spend the day after drinking bourbon than at the Royals game! It was time to finally breakout the World Market Pig Grill and embark on one of the most exciting tailgate parties of all time. Such an epic day brah deserves its own hashtag: #PigDayAtTheK.

Bobby and Billy were even invited! Thanks to the Misejkas for sharing their tickets, we had an awesome day.  The sun was shining, the beers were cold (even the tiny Leinenkugel) and the seats were fantastic.

All in all last weekend was quite the adventure. From the KY Derby to the Pig Day At The K we shared lots of laughs and of course made our own adventures.

Until next time!
