Saturday afternoon we planned to meet up at Shawnee Mission Park and see where the trail led us. I arrived only to see Steph in full cyclist gear (don't say biker as it is offensive). I thought I missed a serious memo as I did not bring a bike nor do I own one. Luckily Steph was just warming up for our hike with a little 12 mile bike ride. Steph and I waited for the rest of our group and chatted up another cyclist. He looked like a real pro until he got laid out by a curb and thrown to our feet. I believe Steph shouted it best, "Oh my gosh! Are you okay!?!" Luckily our new fitness pal jumped to his feet and assured us his head injury was only minor. Kristi & Leslie rounded out the UA team, Leslie showed up with Starbucks and Baileys for everyone. She's the best! Coffee in hand, we began our adventure.
We were about an hour into the hike and we had seen a few squirrels & some cotton tailed deer. The wildlife was tremendous! We thought we were hiking a couple of hours but Steph had other plans. She took us to the red loop which was 4.6 miles. Combine that with the violet trail that we took to reach the red loop both ways I’d say we covered roughly 6 miles. Needless to say the Baileys was gone, we didn't bring food or shelter & after 3 hours we were succumbing to the elements. I blacked out and the next thing I remember was driving my car home.
Thank goodness we survived a day in nature. We hiked over 20,000 steps, we were ready to go party at a baby shower! The Baby Makers were flowing at District Pour House + Kitchen.
We designed onsies & diapers for Baby McCune. We even got a glimps of what the kiddo will look like, what a looker!
After several cocktails it was time to head to Leslie's to celebrate our 2nd Annual Friendsgiving. The recipes we tried out were delish. Leslie outdid herself with a perfect turkey and a very tasting autumn cocktail made with apple cider and Champs. Thank you Pinterest!
Saturday's are for all sorts of activities. Hiking, celebrating friends exciting new beginnings and of course appreciating our friends and embarking on new Unfiltered Adventures.
Happy Friendsgiving everyone!
