Leslie here again. I made a New Years Resolution to try something new and outside of my comfort zone each month. Now I bring/drag along all of the other Unfiltered Adventure gals. February event was Skyrobics-trampoline aerobics!!
We started the class with lots of bouncing for our warmup. Next up was the cardio portion also known as "rouncing". Never heard of it? Neither had 90% of the class, but off we went doing the gallop bounce combo. Some of us were more successful than others, but we all had a blast! After rouncing around, it was time to get down to upper body. Trx, planks, push-ups and more. It ended up being a great workout!
When it is a gorgeous 70+ degree day, patio dining is pretty much required! We did a little research and decided to try out Barrel 31.
Turns out, Barrel 31 has one of the best patios in town and the bottomless mimosas made Andrea so happy!
It was all of our first time dining and we were not disappointed...well, Stephanie ordered a Salmon Caesar Salad which was delicious, but paled when compared to our awesome (and way less healthy) meals.
Andrea had a giant breakfast burrito covered in queso...I mean, covered in cheese=amazing!
Kristi and I both had the breakfast burger. Cheesy, perfectly cooked egg, and 2 patties made an amazing burger!!
Next stop on our fun afternoon was Tom's Town Distillery. The distillery was named after Tom Pendergast, a notorious Kansas City gangster known for fixing elections and fostering government corruption.
We arrived a little early, so we took in the awesome Gatspy inspired decor and ordered a round of cocktails.
A few other friends joined us on the tour. Once they arrived and got cocktails, we were off to tour! The tour starts with a video talking about the history of Tom Pendergast. Then we moved to the actual distilling room.
Our tour guide is part owner and did a great job. You can tell he really has a passion for the business and history!
Now that we learned raw materials on right....booze comes out left side. We were ready to taste!
The vodka was smooth and the group consensus was that it tasted better than it smelled. The bourbon was flavorful and makes a wonderful old fashioned! The gin had hints of lemongrass and other subtle flavors that makes it a great mixer!
After the tour we all grabbed a cocktail to celebrate our new liquor knowledge!
It was a great day exploring more of what KC has to offer! Cheers!!
