Other Dre Weekend
Back to our regularly scheduled Friday posts! Unfiltered Adventure (minus Stephanie who was at her cousins reunion) had the pleasure of celebrating yet another friend's birthday! Andrea turned 29 (again)!
We started Saturday by checking out the new Boulevard Visitor Center and Beer Hall. If you've been to Boulevard recently, you know that this addition was much needed. The visitor center is located across the street from Boulevard Brewery and offers interactive exhibits on the history of beer and an expanded gift shop. The second floor of the building is the new beer hall. The hall can seat up to 300 people inside and has a great deck overlooking downtown Kansas City. There are plenty of tables that can seat small and large parties alike. They even offer old school games for visitors to play while they are beer tasting. Boulevard offers several pre-set beer tastings or you can build your own 4 glass tasting. Once you find a beer you like, they offer them by the glass. The day we went, there were 24 beers were on tap which included some of Boulevard's test beers. Our favorite testers were the Walnut Ale and the Cranberry Orange Citrus Radler - must trys if you go! Check out our Libations page for our regular recommended Boulevard beers!
Andrea had a great turn out and it's always fun to spend the day catching up with friends and trying new Boulevard beers!
As you know, birthdays around here require more than one day to celebrate. So, on Sunday, we headed to one of my personal favorite Kansas City hot spots, Kauffman Stadium! Kauffman is home to the 2015 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals (I don't think I'll ever get tired of writing that!). It was an afternoon ballgame so we were sure to be there bright and early for some tailgating. We had mimosas (shocker!) and played a few rounds of washers before heading in to the stadium. We all bought cheap tickets in hopes of snagging the first come, first serve seats at Craft & Draft in left field. Craft & Draft has specialty value loaded tickets for reserved seats, tables, and benches...but we were bound and determined to get the first come, first serve seats! Luckily, we were in the stadium early enough to get a whole railing of seats together. C&D offers a gastropub menu, quick fired pizzas and nearly 75 different beer varietals. I highly recommend the pizza!
Unfortunately, the Royals lost this game but they sure did try and make another late inning comeback! I'm thinking Andrea had a great birthday weekend and I can't wait until next year when she turns 29 (again)!!! Happy Birthday Andrea!
