The One With the Gandy Dancer

Weekend #1 of Andrea's birthday started out with mermaids and saddles.  What's that you say....you never would have put these 2 items together for a birthday present let alone a bizzare dream? Well that's what you get when you're a part of The Unfiltered Adventure group! I think the croshayed-mermaid-snuggie-blanket-thing was by far her favorite! I mean just look at her face!

After gifts it was time for pre-dinner drinks and to knock off another location off our passport. We've blogged about Tom's Town before but simply had to go back for their amazing craft cocktails. Between the Tom's Town Dirty Martini (better than District Pour House's), Bellinis and Gandy Dancers everything was right with the world. Speaking of Gandy Dancer Andrea just found the name of her new, gold, mermaid (you knew there would be more) necklace.

After drinks we walked down to Extra Virgin just a few, short blocks away. When we arrived we were blown away by what awaited us at our table!

Nancy Smith had prosecco and extra virgin chips waiting for us when we showed up! Talk about feeling bad ass! Soon after we were seated both Nancy & Michael Smith came over and greeted us and promptly let us know about a food treasure they had next door at Michael Smith (the restaurant).  They had just got in a FERMIN Iberico leg! For those of you that don't know (lame) this is recognized as one of the 4 aces of global gastronomy, along with caviar, foie gras and truffles. So what is it? It's acorn-fed ham that is an authentic treasure from Spain.

We decided to order a plate of this that was served along with bruschetta. It was a salty, delicious experience none of us will forget. The rest of our meal consisted of deviled eggs, a 4 cheese plate, duck tongue tacos, poblano mac & cheese, scallops in a red sauce (it totally works) and the wood fired ribeye. It's a tapa style restaurant people so we *had* to order a lot! Our favorites in order were the ribeye and scallops.

After dinner we walked over to Snow & Co for some artful frozen drinks. We hadn't been there before so we thought we'd try it but we probably won't be back. The drinks were par and the ombiance was eh. The overwhelming favorite was Cloud 9.

Saturday = pool time with white wine. The next day we hustled (every day we're hustling) over to the Daniel's pool in search of a golden tan and shenanigans. Details of this day are confidential but this happened.
