Weekend #2 of Andrea's birthday started out with her playing hooky on our downtown Stockyard Passport night. Luckily she had a good excuse...someone had to get the pool ready for her birthday party! Back to that in a few...
Let's start with Friday night. We were able to fit in 3 more Passport stops - Amigoni Winery, Voltaire, and Stockyards Brewing Company. You may remember we visited Amigoni for my birthday back in May. Check out this post if you missed it! The wine was still delicious and I just love the building and atmosphere. Voltaire is a small bistro-style New American restaurant that was offering an Old Fashioned and their Stockyard Fix as the Passport special. Cody and Steph were brave and went with the Old Fashioned while everyone else had the Stockyard Fix. The Stockyard Fix (Tito's vodka, carrot, ginger, lemon, and celery bitters) was a clear favorite! Last stop of the night was Stockyards Brewing Company. We were excited to check this place out as it went into the historic Golden Ox restaurant that closed in 2014. We were surprised with how much of the original decor was maintained and loved that the original charm was still present. We tried several beers between the group and all agree it is a place we would return to.
Now, it's Party Time! Family and friends headed over to Billy and Andrea's house on Saturday for a pool party. One weekend is NOT enough to celebrate Andrea's birthday! Just look at how fabulous she is!! -------->
Unfortunately, the weather didn't quite cooperate and it was slightly overcast and somewhat cool. That, of course, didn't stop the young kids from swimming but kept most of us old folk on dry land. We still had plenty of fun celebrating the birthday girl with great food (thanks Billy for smoking brisket!), good drinks (thanks Franzia Crisp White!) and intense ping pong battles (thanks Olympics for the inspiration!).
The best part part of the day (for us guests) was the party favors! Who knew Andrea was giving out wine!?!
Happy Birthday Andrea! We hope this was the best one yet!!
P.S. I'm sure some of you have been concerned with how our infamous rafts have been doing. There have been several surgeries, patch jobs and restless nights these last few weeks. But, I'm happy to report that everyone has pulled through remarkably! The swans are feeling well enough for a staring contest and Pinkie the Flamingo now has a new purpose in life...a floating cooler!
Cheers! ~ Kristi
