Tap Chef

Cain vs. Abel, Ali vs. Frazier, Batman vs. Superman and now…Eans vs. Hanna.

Last Monday evening local chefs Josh Eans and Howard Hanna faced off against each other in a Battle Royale of epic food and beer proportions. Each chef was given a mystery box with three ingredients that they utilized in three dishes that were paired with three Boulevard beers. After each course was served the diners voted on which dish we believed deserved the victory for that round. After three rounds of head-to-head competition one chef was named Tap Chef. The dishes featured the following ingredients and pairings:

1. KC Canning Co. Pickled Ground Cherries
Show Me Sour

2. Born with Seoul Gochujang
Noble Prize Imperial Pilsner

3. Christopher Elbow 85% Dark Chocolate

Upon entering the Boulevard Tasting Hall we were greeted with a welcome beer, Ginger Lemon Radler. The beer was paired with delicious Thai Chicken Salad on a Crispy Wonton - the edamame in the salad was soaked in soy sauce and Lemon Ginger Radler.

The appetizer was delicious! We were ready to get to the main event.

Round one began with a sour beer. We were not exactly excited to taste it but we were all pleasantly surprised with this sour beer. It was sour with hints of maple, nuts and a stout finish.

Howard won the first judging with an excellent monte cristo toast, the pairing was a perfect balance with Show Me Sour beer.

Next up Josh brought home the win when he wowed us with fresh tortillas, Korean pastor tacos with pineapple Kimache which was paired with Noble Prize Imperial Pilsner - wow. These tacos were incredible.

The last course proved to be very creative. Chef Howard prepared scotch braised bison short ribs served with buttery mashed potatoes.  Chef Josh created short rib s'mores. Say what? When we first  heard of this creation we were afraid, we were petrified. Then we tried s'mores on a short rib and our lives were forever changed. Oh and it was paired with Scotch on Scotch. Also delicious.

Josh was proclaimed victorious!

We loved the Scotch on Scotch. This was certainly one of our favorite Unfiltered Adventures. Can't wait for the next awesome event at the Boulevard Tasting Hall.

Cheers!
