Happy Friday all! Last weekend my friend Jenna came to visit and brought her daughter along for a girls trip! Jenna wsa part of our epic adventure in Becoming Legionnaires. This trip was a little different-less mud, more clean fun. You may be thinking, what does Unfiltered Adventure know about entertaining kids...well not a ton, but we are always up for some fun!
They got in on Thursday and got stuck with the task of coming out to Shawnee Mission Beach to watch Kristi, Steph, and I play some sand volleyball. It was roughly one million degrees, so perfect weather to sit outside in sand!
I took off work on Friday so we could shop and play around town. The only request was that we HAD to go to Build A Bear. I learned so much about these furry creatures and Ashby was thrilled with the end result. Meet Savannah the Panda. While we were at Oak Park Mall, we took a spin on the carousel. I can't tell you the last time that I have been on one, but turns out-still fun!
All that shopping makes you hungry! Sushi for the win at lunch! There is a great place in the strip mall of all places near my house. Sake has a great happy hour and really good sushi! Bonus, they decorate the plates!
Since I had a good excuse to check it out, we went to Freezing Moo's for some of their famous rolled ice cream. They basically mix ingredients and cream on an "ice-grill" and create ice cream! Jenna and I opted for a strawberry mango ice cream with some chocolate syrup and vanilla wafers. It was delicious!
To cap off a great day, we headed to our friends' house for a wine and chocolate party. Chocolate Cork pairs chocolates and wines and teaches you about both in the process. The best part is that they come to you! #chocolatecheers
Speaking of wine-what do you drink in the summer?? Rose All Day of course! This Rose was actually really good and paired well with the pool! Lots of relaxing, swimming, and swans made for a great Saturday. The rest of UA was there too! We just forgot to take a group pic. #bloggerfail
It was still super hot outside on Sunday, so we opted for an indoor activity and checked out Legoland. It was cool and had a fun ride where you got to shoot things with a laser gun. I especially liked the mini versions of Arrowhead, Kauffman, and the KC Skyline.
They even had a 4D movie (right-I had never heard of this before either!) which is really just a foam party for kids. Bobby asked if I felt like I was at the Funky Town Car Wash (a bar in KC that is interesting to say the least...you have to see it to believe it!)
We had a good time, but Legoland is geared toward a younger crowd. Ashby is 10 and thought some of it was cool and some of it was not.
After we got bored of this place, we headed to Pinstripes for some bocce ball.
As it turns out, Bobby is secretly a professional bocce ball player! He and Jenna beat Ashby and I more times than we beat them...even though we didn't keep score. Bocce was a lot more fun for adults and pre-teen kiddos alike!
Don't mind us...just a little leap frog bunnies!
To cap off the weekend, we headed to Seasons 52 and Cooper's Hawk on the Plaza for a great dinner! Mini desserts, great wine and steak, what more could you ask for??
I hope they come back soon for more fun!!!
