It’s restaurant week in Kansas City! So in our own version of Eat, Pray, Love ala Eat, Eat, Eat we discovered some fun new places. Round 1 - Andrea, Kristi, Leslie, Maureen and I went to Maggiano’s Little Italy. If you want portions the size of Texas and five courses crammed into four this is the place for you!
Objects in the photo do not appear smaller. We literally had to be moved to a larger table to accommodate our order.
Since we tried nearly half the menu all in one night here are our recommendations: Apps - Crispy Zucchini Frittè, Salad - Italian Tossed, Pasta - Braised Beef Pappardelle, Entrèe - Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Dessert - All of them!
Round 2 - Kristi, Maddy and I went to Bōru Ramen Bar. Although I only have one photo this place was very good. I can vouch for the CURRY BEEF roasted fingerlings, carrots, curry gravy, with udon noodles
Round 3 - Moose Club (Andrea, Cody, Kristi, Lee, Michelle, Missy and myself) trekked down to the Plaza to try Hogshead. This place is in the old California Pizza Kitchen spot and has a new, trendy vibe going on inside. The music selection alone would take us back. We all started off with the Hogshead Stew - pork cheek, corn, smoked tomatoes, potatoes. This was VERY good on a cold day! Our main course selections all varried but everyone said theirs were good. I didn’t hear any greats but here are the selections we tried: Cheeseburger - thick cut daily’s bacon, farm egg, kc canninc co. hops pickles, f2m egg bun, fries, Skuna Bay Salmon - neckbone gravy, braised greens, pickled cucumber, Chicken Thigh Confit - roasted seasonal squash, bone marrow jus, Braised Short Rib - horseradish mashed potato, charred onion soubise, red wine demi, pumpkin seed gremolata.
Both dessert selections were super good and rich: Doughnut Bread Pudding and if you want a shot of rum in the form of a dessert try Jude’s Rum Cake!
