Happy New Year! Have you recovered from the Holidays? Why is it so hard to get back to the daily grind? I've been riding the struggle bus this week but think getting back to a regular routine is just what I need. Did you make any resolutions for the new year? We here at Unfiltered covered our 2017 resolutions last week. It's funny to go back and read what was important to us last year. I think we pretty much rocked 2017 and think 2018 will be even better yet.
We have a few resolutions/goals we are wanting to focus on this year. Leslie and Andrea are part of a small Bible Study group and are focusing on one word this year. The inspiration is from the My One Word. You pick one word to focus on throughout the year and that word will guide you through the year and evolve in meaning as the year goes on. Leslie is focusing on "marathon". And as she describes it, "it is not because I want to run one…been there, done that…training for one sucks. I chose marathon because I want to focus on being in less of a rush. I’m a very now person who doesn’t like to wait for life/situations/anything really to unfold. I know there is a plan for my life and I just need to be present, aware, and most of all patient while it unfolds and realize that I am not the one in control. Since beginning this in October, there have been ups and downs, but it is nice to have a word to ground you even when you struggle". Andrea is focusing on "empathy". She says, "I originally chose it to help me at work. I’m noticing how much it can help me in all areas of my life and it’s a struggle!" As far as the resolutions, Andrea wants to focus on putting herself in other peoples position before making any conclusions. Stephanie is bound and determined to find a new house to buy and possibly even a new, more enjoyable job. I, on the other hand, tend to hate making resolutions but do want to focus on doing more around my house. My goal is to focus on one area every month starting with cleaning out/donating/and organizing my closet.
Now that the serious resolutions are over, let's talk about New Year's parties! Leslie and Andrea spent the evening with family playing fun games, drinking specialty cocktails and enjoying friends. Stephanie and I also spent time with friends and family playing charades, pictionary, and watching Mariah Carey sing live. Oh what a comeback...except that hot tea fiasco. We were so involved with having a good time I only have a few pictures to share. Cheers to an adventurous 2018 and we will be back next week with an exciting new restaurant review (and hopefully longer blog post)!
