Party Like It's 1999

Unfiltered Adventure's birthday shenanigans have officially begun!  Stephanie started her birthday celebration on Friday with a little Dysport Party, Chili's for delicious apps and cold beer, and a movie to the tune of "I Feel Pretty", staring Amy Schumer.  We hadn't visited a Chili's in awhile, but found their on table drink and app reorder system to be quite handy.  Leslie had a great time hitting that reorder button!  Who knew Chili's would hit the spot?  I'm not saying their beer compares to a cold Brewtus from Applebees, but it is definitely a close second!  The movie was great and had a powerful message.  Don't ever allow someone else to make you feel less than worthy.  With a little confidence, we lose the self-doubt that has been holding us back.  You Are Pretty!

Saturday called for some BBQ, bowling, and an epic 4th edition of Lip Sync Battle.  You can read about last years Lip Sync Battle here.  We all made our way over to Rex & Mariah's house for some delicious Q39 barbecue.  This is starting to become one of our favorites here in town - try the wings!  Andrea provided us with the mintiest of Welcome Cocktails with her rendition of a Bourbon Mint Lemonade.  They were pretty good and once we told Andrea she didn't' have to tear up the mint into minuscule pieces we were all set!

A friend of ours had planned an Adults Only bowling night and we were quick to join in on the party.  It had been way to long for our big group of friends to hang out and we had such a fun time chatting, dancing, and bowling.  As always, there was some serious competition for the highest score of the night.  Winner takes all and the newly coveted "I Tried" bowling trophy Stephanie found at an estate sale 2 weeks ago.  Congrats to our new friend, Tad!!  He had some great strikes and even better strike dances!  We will have to call for a rematch soon!

After bowling, it was time to head back to the house for the Lip Sync Battle.  We had 4 entries this year plus a last minute duet addition.  Mariah started the night off singing Cool Rider from Grease 2.  I've never seen Grease 2, but I'm told she could have been Michelle Pfeiffer's understudy.  She even made her way onto a ladder during her performance!

Stephanie followed and began her set with a fog machine, purple cape, and guitar.  You guessed it - she was Prince!!  She air guitar-ed her heart out to 1999 and we all sung along like it was still 1999!

Lee and Missy put on quite the show with their duet of Close My Eyes Forever.  Their costumes were legit and you could feel the love!

Ellis rocked out with some serious dance moves and attitude to Megan Trainor's No Excuses.  She won best dance moves for the night!!

Our last minute entry came courtesy of Billy and Paul.  More Than Words was soulful and hit you right in the heart.  You could feel the passion between these two - which led to them winning the 4th annual Battle!!

Great job to all the competitors!  We try to make the night fun for everyone and may have a few tricks up our sleeves for next year!  Stay tuned!

Tuesday was Stephanie's actual birthday and we had to celebrate One More Time!  We headed down to HopCat in Westport where we took Jenna the week before!  They weren't lying...those crack fries really are like crack and we highly recommend them!  We had a few apps and a cold one before we headed down the basement to TikiCat!  TikiCat is a hidden bar in the restaurant that features tiki decor, drinks, and fun!  Apparently, there is a huge tiki bar following and a tiki website even named this place the Number 1 Tiki Bar in the WORLD!  Andrea even ran in to somebody from out of town who came specifically to visit TikiCat!  After we found the entrance, we were greeted by a hostess and seated in an alcove decorated with the tiki-est of things!  Blowfish, mermaids, octopus, you name it, it was in our seating area!  All of their drinks are made to order with the freshest juices.  We basically tried the entire menu and had a few favorites - the Daylight Come, the Luau, and the Painkiller.  We loved the presentation of each of the drinks and had a great time checking the place out.  If you decide to go, make a reservation and try to get in on the weekend.  I can only imagine how great of a party they throw on a Friday or Saturday!
