Oktoberfest in September

Back from Colorado where we drank all of the beers Guanella Pass had to offer left us wanting more!  Luckily, Old Chicago has just the thing!  Oktoberfest in September.  Old Chicago frequently does mini tours where you can win a prize.  Normally by the time we finish the tour, the prizes are gone and we never cash in on the rain checks.  So this time, we set our minds to finishing the tour as fast as possible.  11 beers and 1 bratwurst pizza later...these cozy sweatshirts were all ours!!  Note: if you want to do the tour, there is still time.  Ends 9/30.  We had a clear favorite in the Goose Island Oktoberfest.  All 3 of us loved it!

After carb loading on all of those beers, I met up with Lee and Missy for a quick 5K on Saturday morning.  Lee and Missy are some of our fittest friends...they do races all of the time!  I was happy to get to tag along.  My friend Sarah is an amazing supporter of Parkinson's Research.  She is part of Team Fox and often runs, volunteers, and advocates with the Michael J Fox Foundation.  Great cause!!

Each year many of us band together to run for her dad Wally.  He shows up each year and walks in the race.  He is fierce fighter of the disease and continues to show strength and determination as he battles the disease!

Don't mind my sweaty post run selfie!  We missed the group picture and didn't take any while running.  We did do a lot of laughing while we blazed through the 3.1 miles.

It was a beautiful morning, so Andrea and I went to the Overland Park Farmer's Market for some coffee and produce.  You find the biggest vegetables at that market!  Don't mind her Italian Squash!  The weather turned dreary and blah while we were at the market, so we headed off to run a few more errands and meet up with Kristi at Lulu for some shopping and a pop up shop for some of my favorite earrings from Nickel and Suede.

Steph was off on her own adventure at the Lenexa Spinach Festival.  Yep-that's a thing!  Lenexa was hailed as the Spinach Capital of the World during the 1930s.

They even make the world's largest spinach salad.  I'm pretty sure that just means food poisoning for all!!!

While Steph was learning about spinach, the rest of the adventures sought out a dry place to hide from the drizzle and chilly weather.  We stumbled upon this Bloody Mary at Houlihan's...it's fantastic!  There is a slider, thai chicken wing, and stuffed mushroom...along with the standard olive, celery and lime garnish.  Be aware that it takes 10 mins to make because they make the slider, mushroom, and wing when you order it.  And the wait is TOTALLY WORTH IT!!  The thai wings are one of my favorite menu items at Houlihan's so this had my vote from the get go!  Once we sent Steph this picture, she was on her way!  We were all reunited to enjoy a fun afternoon of football watching and catching up since we hadn't seen each other in minutes!
