As we prepared for last weekend, Steph and I headed to the Kansas City Corporate Challenge banquet to celebrate 40 years of events. I mentioned it when Steph and I showed off our amazing abilities in flag football. Well, this was the culmination and celebration of our company’s 13th place finish. Whoop!
It was a chilly 100+ on Friday night, so instead of staying indoors with air conditioning like most of us…a few friends headed to the drive in for some wholesome fun. Lion King and Toy Story 4 for the win! Steph reported back that she stayed awake for 1 whole movie and 3/4 of the second one. Pretty impressive since they start at dark. I’m pretty sure I was asleep on my couch shortly after dark!
Since I didn’t stay up all night watching movies, I was up early and ready for some pool time. Bobby and I headed over to my friend’s pool to check on it…and the taco raft. Don’t worry-everything was all okay!
After we swam for a bit, we headed to one of our favorite breweries. They moved to their new Olathe location in April and of course Kristi, Steph, and I checked it out immediately. They didn’t even have signage on our first visit.
Red Crow has really good beers and the atmosphere is fun. My favorite is the Isabella, but I really like all of them. They have rotators and new beers to try almost every time. Bobby and I tried Gloria-a Belgium Dubbell. It was a little sweet, not too heavy, and had great flavor.
Obviously jumping off the diving board makes you hungry, so we grabbed some delicious eats from The Juan and Only food truck. I don’t know if you can tell, but there are hot cheetos on the loaded tots….crunchy and amazing! The taquitos were good too. Light fry and were great dipped in the toppings on the loaded tots.
Andrea was busy with work stuff. She had a company pool party and then more parties with her coworkers. They hit up Main Event for some bowling, cocktails, and hoops. And, of course, she got in some pool time in the Big D Pool.
Where was Kristi? Well-kinda off the grid. She headed to Colorado Springs with her family for some fly fishing and relaxation. She did some exploring in Garden of the Gods-a must see in Colorado Springs! She also found another amazing coconut porter. We always talk about Broken Compass Coconut Porter, so it is good to know that we have options. She reported back that this beer from Trinity Brew is also fantastic and a must try if you are like us and love coconut porters!!
We have one more announcement. Kristi and Stephanie completed their WORLD BEER TOUR at Old Chicago. This is a big deal. 110 different beers is a commitment. Rex, Mariah, and I are close behind them! I can’t wait to see their names on the Hall of Foam!
