An Unfiltered Adventure Christmas - let's wrap this year up!

For years we've been getting together to celebrate Christmas by eating amazing food and exchanging gifts....just as the holiday was intended. This year we tried Stock Hill  Steakhouse located just south of the Country Club Plaza.  We ordered some craft cocktails that were all really good but 1, ahem Andrea.

The cocktails were pretty top notch and weren't lacking any of the hard stuff. The Loose Park Swizzle and Fat Albert are more warm weather drinks whereas the Hello Yellow Brick Road was just an alcohol snowcone. The Rocking Chair old fashion is my new favorite in town! I mean it's served glass down on a tiny cast iron skillet, over pipe tobacco that is smoking right into it. The presentation alone should make you order this one!

Let's move into the main event...dinner. This place used to be the Kansas City Board of Trade and boy did they spruce it up. White table clothes and champagne buckets next to tables...we felt fancy!  So we started with some Prosecco and 2 appetizers. We chose the Akaushi Short Ribs and the Hamachi Crudo and both were amazing. Neither were super filling for 4 people sharing so we may have demolished the best rolls I've had in FOREVER! They were served with literally nothing....just eat them!

For the main course we ordered Halibut.  Just kidding!  Who orders fish at a Steakhouse??  Not us, we're not lunatics. We all ordered the filet and it was superb.  Sides (above and left) were Vegetables from Roasting pan (because we're healthy) and Robuchon Whipped Potatoes (because our New Years resolutions have not started).  I don't know what they did to these potatoes but I would go to this restaurant by myself, have a bowl of these and a Rocking Chair and it would be glorious!!

It was time for after dinner drinks at Cafe Trio. We had our Winter Warmer Passport in tow so we settled on signature martinis. The first was our server's concoction and it was light, slightly sweet and very tasty! Then we just started ordering random ones and I say random because they were all so interesting, nay bad. So bad that we asked our server to please make them into a suicide martini so it would take the bad taste away. Disclaimer: He warned us before we ordered but like most doctors' orders we failed to listen and went with our own approach. The suicide martini was actually better than any one of the 3 vodka ones we ordered! These will go unnamed as we don't want to hurt their feelings but let's just say there are WAY better martini places in town so please just order something else.

In conclusion (I feel like I'm writing a book report) 2016 was the best year of our blog yet and we can't wait to share our adventures with you next year so keep us bookmarked, tell your friends and keep liking us on social media!  A big thank you and shout out to all our readers and soon to be sponsors for taking time out of your busy schedules to keep up with 4 girls who love life and enjoy sharing it with you.

Birthday Shananagins

What could possibly be better than celebrating your birthday? How about celebrating three birthdays! Friday night Unfiltered Adventure successfully kidnapped our friend Mariah in order to celebrate her special day. We enjoyed dinner and cocktails at Jax located on the Plaza. The seafood was fantastic!

We endulged on crab legs, shrimp, hush puppies & oysters.  The strawberry lemonade cocktails were a crowd favorite. The hush puppies were insane, I still can't believe how delicious they were.

What a great night out with these ladies.

After dinner Steph loaded her air compressor into my car & we called it a night.  (The air compressor proves to be integral later in the weekend).

Saturdays are best when they begin with brunch. Since Leslie was calling the shots for her birthday she got to select the location. After reading several brunch menus she decided on one of our favorite spots for happy hours, we needed to confirm their brunch offerings are held to the same standard as everything else. We checked out Louie's Wine Dive on 119th Street. They had us at $12 mimosa carafes.

The food was excellent, we will definitely be back. I had the breakfast tacos with skillet potatoes. Considering how many tacos I have consumed in my lifetime I'm considered an expert on this matter. You should go get the breakfast tacos. The owner even gave Leslie a bottle of champagne for her birthday. We will literally be back for everyone's birthday from this day forward.  Seriously though, I'm not kidding.

Next stop...pool party!  Cue Pitbull radio.

Leslie sure knows how to have some fun in the sun. Thank goodness for that air compressor!  (I told you the air compressor was intregal, do you see how giant and incredible those rafts are?!?)

Yay!

Yay!

There was still one more birthday to complete this celebration packed weekend. Sullivan turned one year old and invited his fur friends over for a puppy pool party. There were doggie bags, gifts & a lot of furs in the pool!

So much celebrating! Great friends and family made all of the birthday parties special. The birthday trifecta was exhausting but worth every minute!

Cheers,
