The One With the Gandy Dancer

Weekend #1 of Andrea's birthday started out with mermaids and saddles.  What's that you say....you never would have put these 2 items together for a birthday present let alone a bizzare dream? Well that's what you get when you're a part of The Unfiltered Adventure group! I think the croshayed-mermaid-snuggie-blanket-thing was by far her favorite! I mean just look at her face!

After gifts it was time for pre-dinner drinks and to knock off another location off our passport. We've blogged about Tom's Town before but simply had to go back for their amazing craft cocktails. Between the Tom's Town Dirty Martini (better than District Pour House's), Bellinis and Gandy Dancers everything was right with the world. Speaking of Gandy Dancer Andrea just found the name of her new, gold, mermaid (you knew there would be more) necklace.

After drinks we walked down to Extra Virgin just a few, short blocks away. When we arrived we were blown away by what awaited us at our table!

Nancy Smith had prosecco and extra virgin chips waiting for us when we showed up! Talk about feeling bad ass! Soon after we were seated both Nancy & Michael Smith came over and greeted us and promptly let us know about a food treasure they had next door at Michael Smith (the restaurant).  They had just got in a FERMIN Iberico leg! For those of you that don't know (lame) this is recognized as one of the 4 aces of global gastronomy, along with caviar, foie gras and truffles. So what is it? It's acorn-fed ham that is an authentic treasure from Spain.

We decided to order a plate of this that was served along with bruschetta. It was a salty, delicious experience none of us will forget. The rest of our meal consisted of deviled eggs, a 4 cheese plate, duck tongue tacos, poblano mac & cheese, scallops in a red sauce (it totally works) and the wood fired ribeye. It's a tapa style restaurant people so we *had* to order a lot! Our favorites in order were the ribeye and scallops.

After dinner we walked over to Snow & Co for some artful frozen drinks. We hadn't been there before so we thought we'd try it but we probably won't be back. The drinks were par and the ombiance was eh. The overwhelming favorite was Cloud 9.

Saturday = pool time with white wine. The next day we hustled (every day we're hustling) over to the Daniel's pool in search of a golden tan and shenanigans. Details of this day are confidential but this happened.

Cultivating New Adventures!

Hi all! Happy Friday! I hope everyone is enjoying lots of fun adventures this weekend. Last weekend my (Leslie) friend Robyn came to visit from Texas. She is a reader, so naturally she was very excited to be part of our Unfiltered Adventures!

We kicked last Friday off with a workout at Orange Theory. If you haven't heard of it, it is a heart rate monitored workout with a mix of running on a treadmill, rowing, and some strength. You can see your heart rate on a monitor at all times and the goal is to spend a certain amount of time in the "orange zone" and "red zone".  Overall it was a great workout!  I was definitely sweating throughout the whole thing!!

What better way to cool off after a workout than to jump in the pool?!? I can't think of anything!  So naturally we head to Andrea and Billy's house for some Friday fun.  Most of us took the day off to enjoy the pool and others met up after working for the day.  Fun in the sun is the perfect way to cool off and enjoy a week day!

Hi Robyn!! Doesn't she look great modeling the white wine in the daytime tank on Black Swan 2.0? Black Swan #1 created deflate gate, by instantly deflating the first raft outing.  Luckily the manufacturer quickly replaced her.

Naturally we had salad for lunch because we are so healthy...or we didn't want to cook. Either way, it was so good and perfect for lunch. Since you must wait 5 minutes (that's the rule right?) after eating before getting back in the pool, Andrea decided to water her plants. Is it still considered adulting if you wear a shark mask?!? No really, is it?

It was roughly 1 million degrees last weekend so staying out of the water was not happening! Raft running is the newest way to get back in! It's harder than it looks!! Btw-if you don't follow all of us on Instagram, you should. Kristi posted a hilarious video of me face planting while trying to stand up on Pinkie! Check out our contact page to follow. #shamelessplug

Robyn had one request for her visit and it was Rose'. Who am I to argue when she requests the drink of the summer? Louie's for the second time in 1 week is not excessive. It's called being a "regular"!

image.jpg

The food was amazing, but they only brought out Robyn's chicken and no sides at first. They came out quickly and wouldn't have been a big deal, but this is the second place to forget half of Robyn's food. Why doesn't KC want her to get to eat?!?  Once her food did arrive at Louie's it was amazing and we all were very pleased!!

Saturday was another 1 million degree day, but we headed to the Chipotle Cultivate Festival anyway. Cold beers (as long as you drank them fast) and strong fans helped cool us off as we got some great tips and tricks from Andy Zimmern and Carla Hall.

Carla Hall is a personal favorite of mine from Top Chef. Her bubbly personality and quirkiness make her so much fun to watch!

We decided we had enough sweating while standing around, so we grabbed our Chipotle burrito and Pizzaria Locale coupons and headed for air conditioning.

Il Lazzarone happens to be on the Passport Program and has air conditioning, so we popped in for a delicious charcuterie board and some drinks. Unfortunately the charcuterie board was way better than the pizza and we left a little disappointed.

Next stop was Harry's Country Club to say happy birthday to our friend Klarisa. Moscow Mules were on special and were soooo great! I love a good Moscow Mule! Thanks Cody for modeling! Kristi and Steph headed with a group to try Breakout KC.  They did not manage to breakout, but they did have a fun time trying!  Plus, they got to try the new Street Car system.

Fun fact: we came here once before a concert and met The Harry of Harry's Country Club. Really nice guy!
